This is the place where the terminal tabs are open at 1am and none of them are actually finished. Part homelab logbook, part research notebook, part the stuff I can't stop thinking about long after the laptop should be closed.

What you'll find here

Notes from a Proxmox homelab that's always one config change away from "working perfectly" — networking, self-hosted services, GPUs doing things GPUs weren't originally sold to do. Alongside that: writing that comes out of coursework in intelligence and security studies, where the questions are less about uptime and more about how information moves, breaks, and gets weaponized. And every so often, something further out — consciousness, dreaming, the kind of questions that don't resolve neatly but are worth sitting with anyway.

You might also find something useful to take with you when you go... perhaps a morsel of knowledge to chew on, or an idea that gnaws at your curiosity and distracts you from what you're supposed to be doing. Either way, however you got here and however long you stay, I hope you come back soon...

Why "Lycan"

A lycan works best at night, alone, half-feral about the problem in front of them. That's the whole pitch. This blog is what's left over after those hours — cleaned up just enough to be readable.

Who's behind it

One person, one too many terminal windows, based on the Eastern seaboard. Currently split between building things that shouldn't be as hard as they are, and studying the things that make information dangerous.
